The Music Man- Amaryllis or Zaneeta?

Im auditioning for The Music Man and I was wondering about both of those characters. Which is a bigger role? What are both like? (amount of singing, dancing, lines, comedy..) Thanks a lot.

The Music Man- Amaryllis or Zaneeta?
Amaryllis is the young girl in love with Marion's brother Winthrop. She is taking piano lessons from Marion. She and Winthrop should be around the same age.





Zanetta is Mayor Shinn's teenage daughter. She is in love with town rebel Tommy Djilas. It's a good comic role for a dancer, as she and Tommy are usually featured dancers in the show.





Both these parts are basically chorus parts. Amaryllis only has one real scene, the Piano Lesson. Zanetta has a lot more lines, but is usually one of the lead dancers with Tommy (as I already said).... but, of course, it's what your director is going to do with the show that counts. I can only give you generalities on how the show is usually cast.
Reply:i was looking up info on these parts as well. i don't think Zaneeta has any singing roles, however from what i have read she must be a good dancer. i don't know about the 2nd character u mentioned

Reply:I tried to look up cast info. for you, but it was really difficult to find. Sorry I couldn't tell you more about the parts, but I like the role of Amaryllis better .
