It has been growing since November, I have others that planted afterward and have bloomed, and also paperwhite that have come and gone, what did I do wrong with this one!
I have a beautiful Amaryllis plant that has great foiliage, no flowers, what can I do?
Check out this site from the University of Nebraska Lincoln. http://lancaster.unl.edu/hort/articles/2... It has some very good information about caring for Amaryllis, and should help you avoid the common problem with not getting repeat bloom beyond the first year.
If properly cared for, they should bloom within 4-6 weeks after being potted. And remember, they require TONS of light! Without adequate light, the leaves get long and floppy, and it won't bloom. Sounds like that may be the problem with yours.
Reply:If it a small, young bulb it may not bloom for a few years. Keep it in good sun and give water as needed, and just see what happens - maybe it's just a late starter. Don't throw it out though, keep it and try again next year.
Reply:Just leave it on the window ledge keep it damp and eventually it will bloom. Look down the leaves to the base and you will probably see the bud. A south facing window is best. Of course it depends where you are I'm in the northern hemisphere.
Reply:If you have foliage you probably will not get a bloom. Maintain you amaryllis like a house plant until danger of frost has passed. Place outside, the foliage will create food for the bulb and store it for next years bloom. This Fall, pull and cut foliage off and let rest for 30 days. Plant your amaryllis and start all over again. Your bulb did not have enough food to creat a bloom.
Good luck.
